Port Harcourt: Rivers High Court Bombed on Monday

A High Court in Ahoada, Ahoada East Local Government area of Rivers State, southern Nigeria, was bombed in the early hours of Monday 9 June before the official resumption of the court but just as it was preparing the cases slated for the day.

The explosion may have targeted court records apparently to destroy the records and exhibits.

Court files and property worth millions of naira were destroyed but no life was lost.

An eyewitness said the court properties destroyed included electronic gadgets, furniture and the administrative offices of the court.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Tunde Ogunshakin has visited the scene of the explosion to assess the extent of damage but declined to speak with journalists at the scene of the incident.
