The police in Anambra said on Tuesday that they had arrested an arms dealer based in Onitsha and recovered arms and ammunition from him.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Usman Gwari, told newsmen at the Amawbia headquarters of the command in Awka that the suspect had been in the business at the Onitsha Main Market for 10 years.

The police boss said the suspect had given useful information about his other two associates, whom he promised would soon be arrested.

He said the cache of arms recovered from the suspect included automatic pump action riffles, double barrel guns and cartridges.
