Al-Makura Governor of Nasarawa Loses Elder Sister

Gov. Umaru Tanko Al – Makura of Nasarawa State has lost his elder sister, Hajiya  Husseina Baban- Kwaku, in the early hours of Today, Saturday.

Baban-Kwaku, died during a brief illness at the age of 65. she survived by four children.

The Director of Press Affairs to the Governor, Iliyasu Ali Yakubu, confirmed the death in Lafia on Saturday.

Yakubu said Baban-Kwaku died at the Specialist Hospital, Lafia at about 2.30 a.m.

He said the late Baban-Kwaku was the immediate elder sister of the governor.

He said the remains of the deceased had been buried according to Islamic rites and that the 3-day fidau prayer would hold on Sunday, May 11.

Source gathered that the Emir of Kwandare, Alhaji Ahmadu Al-Makura, is also an elder brother of the deceased.

Speaking after the burial, Al-Makura described her death as a monumental loss to the family.

“Her death is a huge loss to the family and the entire state,’’ he said.

The governor prayed to Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and other members of the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
