Purpose of Role

    To champion & drive brand growth in volume and equity by leveraging understanding of consumer attitudes, motivations and trends
    Development and seamless execution of Brand plans both short and long term.
    To ensure that brand plans are developed and executed based on the following
    Lead the deployment and execution of brand strategy & advertising communication founded upon a deep understanding of the consumer.
    Champion the Measurement and Evaluation of all initiatives.
    Monitors brand performance and implements appropriate plan changes.

    The Senior Brand Manager supports the delivery of the short and medium term strategic goals of the brand to outperform the competition and delivers against equity targets.
    Leads the development of a clear vision and simple strategy for the Brand
    The SBM uses market insights and analytical skills to deliver world class growth drivers which drive equity for the brand and drive brand/ category growth.
    Strategies are translated into focused, differentiated and commercially relevant GAME plans that can be executed.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

    Graduate Calibre
    MBA might be an added advantage.
    Minimum 5 years Consumer marketing experience
    Demonstrates strategic thinking and translation of strategies into differentiated plans.
    Ability to procure and deploy expert resources from colleagues, agencies and partners to create breakthrough outcomes.
    ATL development, Media planning and deployment.
    Agency Management and Good relationship skills
    Cross functional project management skills (strong sales/commercial liaison and teamwork)
    Demonstrated capability in brilliant execution and ability to translate strategies to marketing plans.

Barriers to Success in Role

    Inability to manage stakeholders, poor project management skills and poor strategic thinking.

    This role focuses on the step-change in investment and management of the Lager Category in Africa and beyond.


    Management and Accountability for implementation of Advert & Promotion spend, Efficiencies and Evaluation across all Brand activities.
    Negotiate cost of 3rd Party Goods & Services suppliers with Procurement.
    Develops & executes plans against strategic growth opportunities.
    Maintains business critical controls & compliance documentation rigorously to ensure complete transparency across the Portfolio.

Leadership and Functional Responsibilities

    Manage the delivery of the Annual Operating Plan through excellent execution of GAME Plans & activities and through determining the allocation of marketing investment budget into activities.
    To grow, develop, and build Marketing Talent in the team such that we contribute unequivocally to GNPlc being the Best Place To Be.
    Create ground breaking and highly effective communications, through creative and content excellence, as well as managing annual media planning for conventional & non-conventional media.
    Ensure strong collaboration within the Lager team and with other African team members in building the trademark & Lager category via new growth drivers and search and spin.
    Inspire agencies, in-market teams & commercial managers to turn Annual GAME Plans into “executable” commercial plans and assist with the development of growth drivers.

Key Accountabilities

    Develop and execute ambitious recruitment plans for Harp Lager and other brand initiatives to support the Lager ambitions for the future
    Inspire & develop the rest of the Brand Teams as well as collaboratively support the GNPlc Customer Marketing team ensuring full adherence to Diageo Marketing Code and Digital Code of Practice.
    Develop the annual Brand Media Plan for conventional & non-conventional media and development of third party strategic partnerships.
    Lead the development & commercial implementation of annual Game Plan.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

    Graduate calibre preferably in Marketing or Business related disciplines. Postgraduate Qualifications an advantage
    5-8 years proven experience of FMCG Brand Management including creative development and implementation and trade marketing
    Ability to work under own initiative / pro-active leadership
    Commercial judgement & acumen.
    Experience of working on National Activation platforms & understanding of Execution standards required for the demanding consumer.
    Experience at managing key stakeholders nationally & internationally.
    Budget & cost control management

    Insufficient Brand Management experience in the Nigerian / Global Beer Markets.

Job Title: Retail Development Manager (RDM)

The Retail Development Manager (RDM) is the entry level for sales and commercial talent in Guinness Nigeria. Working alongside other RDMs and Business Development Managers (BDMs) in a geographical area; the role reports to an Area Sales Manager (ASM).

Purpose of Role
Supports the business in the achievement of performance objectives through the effective management of a designated sales territory including implementation of all sales activities/programmes in the retail sales territory.

Key Accountabilities

    Ensures achievement of the Diageo sales drivers (Quality, Distribution, Visibility, Promotion, Price and Persuasion) at all outlets within territory coverage
    Ensures effective customer/consumer relationship management and business development in trade
    Gain important consumer and trade insights and share with relevant internal teams
    Excellent execution of promotions, ensuring that promotional activity is in the right outlets and well managed
    Responsible for ensuring the retail redistribution standards are adhered to by distributors and Van Sales Men (VSM)
    Accountable for Point of Sale (POS) materials, Chillers, Light signs, etc deployed in retail outlets within sales territory

Qualifications and Experience Required

    Graduate with minimum of 1 year commercial expertise gained in Field Sales or Consumer Marketing
    Understanding of the total alcoholics drinks market
    Brilliant persuasive selling skills
    Good communication skills –written and verbal
    High degree of integrity
    Good interpersonal skills
    Geographically mobile – must be ready and willing to work in any location in the country
    Experienced driver with valid license
    Good computer appreciation skills
    Entrepreneurial mind-set and good business acumen.

Purpose of Role
This role is about using research outcome with a focus on consumer and market understanding to drive business growth.

A. Financial: The role is responsible for the management of Research Budget

B. Market Complexity: Work across all Nigeria to drive insights that will unlock growth, drive profitability and deliver market share for Guinness Nigeria brands.

Key Accountabilities:

    Supports the development of brand and implementation of brand strategy and communication by facilitating a deep understanding of the consumer (GAME planning)
    Leads regular brand reviews, actively champions and communicates consumer viewpoint to teams throughout the marketing process and ensuring that the consumer is at the heart of the brand teams
    Effectively facilitates workshops to unlock creative solutions on market and consumer issues
    Develops insights through the rigorous use of 5I's tool
    Ensure consumer and market knowledge is distilled into clear actionable implications
    Manages research agency partners research process through ad-hoc and continuous research projects, while ensuring efficient budget utilisation
    Monitor and communicate trade information (AC Nielsen), volumes and monthly tracker data to the business
    Ensures M&E learning is applied to drive growth throughout the business
    Develops and drives best practice within consumer planning and research
