Police Arrest Fake Lagos Doctor

The police in Lagos on Thursday arrested a suspected fake Surgeon and Gynaecologist, Adeyemi Akintolure, 40, who claimed to be working with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

The police spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide, told newsmen that his arrest was sequel to a petition filed by a woman to the police that the fake doctor allegedly swindled her of N500,000.

Ngozi said that when the suspect could not pay back the money, Joy Umosekhaimhe, filed her petition to the police at Area ‘H’ Command, Ogudu, where the suspect was invited.
She alleged that Akintolure also tendered a fake LUTH Identity Card with his name, number I3541 that identified him as a Surgeon and Gynaecologist.

Ngozi alleged that the suspect tendered his forged certificate of Annual Practicing Licence which he claimed was issued to him by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
She said that police investigation at LUTH revealed that the suspect was not an employee of the hospital and was not issued any identification card.

Ngozi alleged that during interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was not a medical doctor, and had been practicing as a medical doctor for four years using his vehicle as a mobile clinic.

She said that during a search in suspect’s house, a vehicle, different types of drugs, injections, syringes and laboratory coats were recovered. Akintolure claims that he only treats malaria.
